Bangor City Council members this past week honored Zachary Hayes with a proclamation for winning his state wrestling meet. Zachary’s overall record for 2024 was 55 wins and one loss. He was named the Southwest 10 Conference champion. He won his MHSAA District championship in a 5-2 decision and he was MHSAA regional champion with a pin in 3 minutes and 29 seconds. He took the MHSAA state championship in Division 4 at the weight of 285 pounds with a 4-0 decision.

“We are so proud of him. Last year when we presented him with a proclamation he said, ‘Next year I am going to be State Champion.’ I promise you. And he did,” said Mayor Lynne Farmer.
